Stolen Sharpie Revolution! ****tland Zine Symposium! Brainscan zine!

by Alex Wrekk <brainscanzine@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > May 20, 2008 at 01:09 PM

Hey folks. My Name is Alex and I wrote a book called Stolen Sharpie
Revolution, it's about zines and it has lots of resource listings for
zine distros and zine libraries and other stuff. Well, I'm working on
a new edition that should be out this summer that will have all
updated text and resource listings. There will also be additional info
about zines in academics, zines and the internet, zine events and
more!

I started a blog so you can follow along with my updates if you would
like or leave comments about stores, distros or zine libraries that I
misssed. Stolen Sharpie is only as good as the information people give
me. check out http://www.stolensharpierevolution.com
if you are
interested.

A couple of other plugs:
I'm an Organizer for the ****tland Zine Symposium and I wanted to let
you know that this year it is going to be August 23-24 in ****tland,
Oregon at ****tland State university. There will be workshops and fun
events and a whole ballroom of tabling. tabling hasn't opened up yet
but it should be ready any day now. Check out http://www.pdxzines.com
for more info or e-mail pdxzines@[EMAIL PROTECTED]
 if you have any questions
or if you would like to lead a workshop or panel.

I make a zine called brainscan, I have been putting out issues since
1997 and i put out two last year. Brainscan was even nominated for an
Utne award for excellence in zines last year. If you check out my Etsy
shop you can read descriptions and some of the reviews I have posted
at http://brainscan.etsy.com
You don't have to buy them from Etsy, you could just put some cash in
an envelope and send it to the address listed below, or we could do
the paypal thing. brainscan #21-$3, Brainscan #22-$2. I also make 1"
and 1.25" custom pinback buttons, you can check that info out on my
Etsy Shop as well.

And, check out the zineradioshow. I was interviewed the other night
and I think it could be a neat resource for zines.
